Boys’ Dorms Pop the Question
As Groton swings into full gear in the month of October, dorm proposals, a particularly fascinating tradition of Groton, have already taken place. Together, brother/sister dorms share feeds, communal check-ins and fun activities.
While typically a boy’s dorm proposes to girl’s dorm, dorm proposals from all are encouraged and cherished for their light-hearted humor. Light-hearted dorm proposals remind us that it’s okay to have fun. Here are some of the proposals from this fall:
Nelson’s to Dumont’s
Nelson’s dorm brought a pizza to Dumont’s check-in, and a pizza is always appreciated. Tyler Brooks ‘17 on bent knee asked Dumont’s to be their sister dorm. Although Tyler originally offered the pizza from Francis’s dorm, he quickly fixed the mistake. Nelson’s cheesy proposal received a resounding “yes” from Dumont’s Dorm.
Fry’s to Lincoln’s
Fry’s, proposing to Lincoln’s dorm, performed Howie Day’s classic song Collide with Liam Calder ‘18 on the guitar. Despite Lincoln’s dorm having been sprayed by a skunk and the long walk across campus, Fry’s proposed nonetheless. Such a stunning and brave performance undoubtedly gained the approval of the audience. Thus, the Lincoln’s prefects graciously accepted Fry’s request to be their sister dorm.
Viacava’s and Riley’s to Spring’s
In a rare co-proposal, Viacava’s and Riley’s dorm proposed to Spring’s dorm. Viacava’s and Riley’s performed a reenactment of Harambe risking his own life to save a boy with Douglas Altshuler ’20 starring as Harambe. After the reenactment the two dorms sang “Isn’t She Lovely,” and Spring’s accepted the proposal.
